The Cross Repudiates Every Accusation Against Us
The Cross of Jesus Christ repudiated every accusation against you. To ‘repudiate’ is to disclaim, renounce or reject. Colossians 2:14 states, “Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross…”
Christ has taken out of the way, rejected, renounced every accusation against you; He has negated it.
If a teacher or presenter uses a chalkboard to demonstrate a lesson to an audience, at the end of the presentation or lesson the teacher wipes the board clean; there is no record left of what was written there.
In the same way, Christ obliterated every curse; He erased the judgment that was written against you by washing it with His blood. Not only did He wipe it out, but the Scripture went on to say, “He took it out of the way by nailing it to the cross.”
The picture here is the ancient method by which a bond or obligation was cancelled, by driving a nail through it and affixing it to a post. What a picture!
Jesus wiped away the accusations against you; He nailed them to the cross. Every curse, every debt, every judgment, every sickness, every hurt, every sin… was nailed to His cross just as He was physically nailed to the cross… so that all could see He cancelled them all.
That is why on the cross He said: “It is Finished.” Though the enemy of your soul still tries to intimidate you with his lies, know he was silenced at the cross. It is finished. Isn’t that awesome?!
Prayer:
Father, I pray that every reader would be reconciled to You through Jesus Christ. Let them know that through the blood of the Cross of Your Son Jesus Christ, You have cancelled every judgment and every curse… the enemy has brought against them. And may they embrace and walk in that truth from henceforth. Amen!
